About the Poet:
Sue Hardy Dawson is a poet, artist, and illustrator, and has been widely published in children’s poetry anthologies. Her first solo collection 'Where Zebras Go' is shortlisted for the CLiPPA 2018 Prize. Her new collection with poetry Ambassadors Roger Stevens and Liz Brownlee 'Apes to Zebras an A to Z of Shape Poems' Bloomsbury came out in 2018
her next solo colection If 'I Were Other Than Myself' is due out in 2019 with Troika Books.
She has an Open First Class Honours Degree in Creative Writing, Literature and Supporting Teaching and Learning. She has been a writer in schools and also been commissioned to provide workshops for the Prince of Wales Foundation for Children and the Arts. She is dyslexic and takes a special interest in encouraging children with special educational needs.
Before becoming a poet she had many different jobs including working as a family support worker and as a teaching assistant in both primary and secondary schools. She currently performs her poems and runs multi-sensory poetry workshops for children of all ages.
She has been writing poetry since she was a child and has become particularly well known for her shape poems.
